Therapeutic Philosophy

Neuro-developmental treatment, sensory integration, manual therapy and other therapeutic modalities are combined, incorporating state of the art theory in the areas of motor learning and motor control. Regardless of the functional outcome desired, each program focuses on building on the strengths of the child while minimizing problems/impairments that may interfere with progress.

Short-term intensives may include emphasis on evaluating the effects of adaptive equipment for seating, mobility, or exercise, and other therapeutic modalities such as taping, compression garments, electrical stimulation, augmentative communication devices, and splinting/orthotics, including their role in programming and carryover at the completion of the intensive.

Short-term Therapy Intensives

A short term therapy intensive may be suggested/requested for your child as a supplement to traditional therapy in order to maximize the effects of treatment targeting specific functional outcomes. This intensive will be tailored to your child's needs and is often a good choice if a child has plateaued or needs to jump start their treatment regimen. The focus is on maximizing independence, quality of life and participation in the home, school and community.

This individualized program is specifically designed to meet the specific needs of the your child and family in moving forward in functional abilities. We are dedicated in assisting children with special needs and their families in improving functional abilities for maximum independence, quality of life, and participation in home, school and community.

The therapy team includes a combination of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and/or speech therapy. Multiple therapists support and guide your child in the safe, relaxed environment of your home or residential clinic of your choice. Each day usually consists of 4 hours or more of therapy per day over a 4-5 day period of time.

Parents/caregivers and other family members participate as partners in the intensives, providing support, learning and developing carryover strategies that can be incorporated during daily routines and working through obstacles that impede progress. Children and families may participate in intensives periodically, especially when ongoing therapy is difficult to access.
